VivoX Fold3 series to bring new design, Pro version
Vivo is expected to introduce not one but two book-style foldable devices by the end of the first quarter of 2024. According to Digital Chat Station, there will be an X Fold3 and an X Fold3 Pro, and both devices have been certified by the Chinese authority.
Leakster claims that the new pair will bring several improvements over the X Fold 2, including upgraded screen resolution, a larger battery, 50MP sensors for all cameras and a lighter weight.
Having a powerful variant of a smartphone is a strategy that is widely used in the conventional smartphone scene but very rare in the world of foldables. The poster reveals that the X Fold3 Pro will have a periscope lens for the telephoto camera, 50W wireless charging and an under-display fingerprint scanner.
The latter two features aren’t new — they were part of the X Fold and X Fold2. It appears that vivo may offer the X Fold3 with some features removed at a lower price, while the X Fold3 Pro will be the true successor to the X Fold2.
On one hand, having different options is good for consumers, but on the other hand, it won’t matter much if Vivo decides to continue selling its foldable only in China.
