Vivo S18 series coming on December 14, key exec reveals details
Last week a Vivo VP said that an announcement about the S18 series will come on December 4. Today is that day, and we’ve learned that the lineup will officially launch on December 14. There will be three phones – an affordable S18e, a vanilla S18 with two cameras and a vivo S18 Pro with the most impressive specs in the lineup.
Xia Jingdong, Vivo’s VP and GM of brand and product strategy, revealed that the Pro variant will feature a Dimensity 9200+ chipset and a 50 MP camera with Sony IMX920 sensor, which was also seen in the recently launched flagship X100 smartphone.
The executive also said that the basic Vivo S18 will have a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset, confirming earlier rumours. Coming back to the S18 Pro, it’s also borrowing the 50MP ultra-wide camera from the X100 lineup, while the telephoto camera has a 12MP sensor and f/2.0 lens with 2x optical zoom, seen on the vivo X90s.
Zia also posted some camera samples taken with a vivo S18 smartphone. Here are three samples, but note that they may contain some artifacts due to posting on social media.
The Vivo S18 Pro will have a 120 Hz screen, a 5,000 mAh battery in a slim body and an in-house generative AI called BlueLM. We expect to know more about the series in the 10 days before the launch.
