Sony Xperia 5 V is now receiving the update to Android 14
Sony pushed the Android 14 update to its mainstream flagship Xperia 1 V in early November, and for some reason it took an extra two months to reach the company’s smaller flagship device, the Xperia 5 V. – One week after the Xperia 10 V range it got 1 V for comparison.
Whose ending is all right? Today Sony’s official Instagram account announced that Android 14 is finally rolling out to the Xperia 5 V. It was definitely time.
The update certainly brings everything Google packed into the Android 14 release. Additionally, you get support for using the LED flash on the back as a notification light, but also screen flashing to draw your attention to notifications or alarms. The Xperia 5 V is now compatible with the Find my device app, which lets you easily – as the name suggests – find it, but also lock it and wipe content remotely.
There’s also an expanded nearby sharing feature that lets you wirelessly send files from your Windows computer to the phone, and you also have customizable lock screen shortcuts.
Note that these types of rollouts usually go in batches, so even if your specific Xperia 5 V unit hasn’t received the notification yet, it’s definitely coming in the next few days.
