Samsung has finally implemented the seamless update feature to its smartphones starting with the Galaxy A55

The seamless update Android feature introduced by Google in 2016 was adopted by most Android OEMs except Samsung. Samsung has said that it is working to implement seamless updates to its Android smartphones and after eight years, the Korean brand has finally brought the feature to its devices.

The continuous update feature allows the update to be installed on partition B while you use your phone on partition A and restart it when the installation is complete.

This keeps the device usable during installation and only unavailable during restart, which can take up to 90 seconds on the Galaxy A55, meaning you no longer have to wait several minutes for the entire installation process to complete before using your phone.

It’s unclear which Samsung smartphones will get the continuous update feature later, but it’s unlikely that older models will support it because the device needs to be configured for the feature before it leaves the factory.
