Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 rumored to use the same main camera
Innovation has never been an easy task when it comes to annual smartphones. Arguably, redesigning the interior and complex hinge mechanism of a modern foldable is still difficult. Rumors of Samsung’s next Z Fold6 phone have started circulating.
According to industry insider ICE Universe, we should temper our expectations regarding the Z Fold6’s main camera. Apparently, Samsung will reuse the 50MP Samsung GN3 sensor (1/1.56″, 1.0µm) for the main camera. It’s the same sensor found inside the Z Fold5 and Z Fold4. As far as you can go, the Z Fold3 has a different Sony IMX555 main camera. 12MP to look for.
If this is true, admittedly, it’s an irony, but according to other credible reports from ELEC, Samsung may start making the Z Fold6 thinner and close the thickness gap between it and competitor’s products. According to the aforementioned report, Samsung could reverse-engineer Huawei’s Mate X5 foldable so that the Chinese company has achieved both a thinner profile and a larger internal battery.
For context, the Z Fold5 measures 6.1mm open and 13.4mm folded, while the Mate X5 measures 5.3mm open and 11.1mm folded. The Xiaomi Mix Fold 3 is remarkably thin at 5.3mm open and 10.9mm folded. The new OnePlus Open is 5.8mm unfolded and 11.7mm folded.
