OnePlus and BOE to introduce a smartphone display with 3,000 nits of brightness on October 24
The OnePlus Open arrived yesterday as the brand’s first device with a foldable screen, and now it’s already gearing up to unveil the next big thing in display technology. The company has teased “A New Dawn” for Chinese screens on October 24. OnePlus and its parent company Oppo will unveil a new display manufactured by BOE.
According to Digital Chat Station, the new panel will be exceptionally bright. They revealed that the display with 1440p resolution will reach 3,000 nits of brightness, while the 1220p panel will even exceed the mind-blowing threshold.
According to OnePlus, its Open smartphone can reach a maximum brightness of 1,400 nit and a peak brightness of 2,800 nit. However, in our tests, we found the maximum achievable brightness to be slightly lower.
The new panel will support 2160 Hz PWM dimming (up from 1440 Hz on the current panel) and single pulse DC.
The announcement will happen on the same day as Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 announcement, and the OnePlus 12 seems to have a good chance of featuring the new chipset and BOE screen.
