OnePlus is expected to arrive with three cameras on December 12, and early rumors suggested a combination of a 50 MP main, 50 MP ultra-wide and 64 MP telephoto shooter.
Today, the leakster digital chat station revealed that the ultra-wide cam will actually have a 48 MP 1/2” sensor and f/2.2 aperture, while the zoom lens will have a 64 MP OmniVision OV64B sensor with OIS. The biggest surprise is the new main sensor – the 50 MP Sony IMX966.
According to a previous report from the same source, the new Sony sensor will be on par with the performance of the Sony IMX989 which is a 1”-type imager. Its small size will be compensated by the double-layer build, which improves sensitivity.
The new sensor will be paired with OIS and will benefit from the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s computational photography skills. On top of that, it is expected to have a 64MP telephoto camera, 3x optical zoom, better low-light performance courtesy of the new Qualcomm chipset.
The OnePlus 12 is said to arrive on December 12 with an expected debut in China and a global release in early 2024.
