Nothing Phone (2a) test unit leaks with photos and alleged specs
If rumors are to be believed, the Nothing Phone (2a) is the company’s next expected device and its unveiling is just around the corner as per the latest official teaser. However, we still don’t know a whole lot about the device and its design. According to a recent leak, the phone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset and will sport an all-new design on the back with three-glyph styling that sets it apart from other Nothing models.
Now we have a new leak that actually shows a device in the wild in a few photos. We’re looking at a PVT unit, which stands for “Production Validation Test,”—a small initial production batch that tests and verifies that manufacturing processes are working properly and that devices meet required specifications and quality standards. It’s common for such basic units to be specifically designed to hide their design inside a large outer case, which is exactly the case here.
Still, we can clearly see the horizontal camera arrangement on the back unlike other smartphones. Suppose the rest of the information from the source is to be believed. In that case, the Nothing Phone (2a) will be paired with a 6.7-inch, 120Hz OLED display, the aforementioned Dimensity 7200 chipset, 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage (other memory variants may follow).
There also appears to be two 50MP rear cameras like the Nothing Phone 2, but a 16MP selfie cam. The phone also seems to ship with Nothing OS 2.5 and Android 14. Take some of these details with a grain of salt, though, as the phone’s About screen lists a battery capacity of 1,000 mAh, which is clearly incorrect.
However, the source also claims that we can expect to see a Nothing Phone (2a) unveiled at MWC (February 2024) with an MSRP of around $400.
