New rumor out of Korea confirms the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s titanium frame

We’ve already heard several times that Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S24 Ultra will have a titanium frame, thus following the lead of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. And yet another rumor today, this time originating from Samsung’s home country of South Korea, confirms this fact.

According to unnamed sources, the S24 Ultra will be the first Samsung smartphone to feature a titanium outer frame. Depending on the reception for this feature, the company may then decide to expand it to other models.

We’ve heard similar things before, but then, in early October, a rumor claimed others that the S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra will have titanium frames. Now we’re back to Ultra only.

Today’s report also states that current aluminum frame prices are below Samsung’s $20, and the key to large-scale titanium adoption will be yield – low yields could increase that price by four to five times, which is certainly not acceptable. So let’s keep our fingers crossed.

Samsung initially set a production target of 15 million titanium frames, which coincidentally is exactly how many Galaxy S23 Ultra units have shipped this year – so obviously, the S24 Ultra is the intended recipient.

Reports suggest that the S24 Ultra will have a flat screen and the outer frame will be titanium, while the inner frame will be aluminum – just like the aforementioned iPhones.
