Lava O2 comes with 50 MP camera and sub-$100 price tag
Lava O2 has been announced in India today. The company claims this is the fastest phone in the $100 segment thanks to its chipset, which is the Unisoc T616 with an octa-core CPU. The O2 also has a 50MP camera, which shows that entry-level phones have come a long way lately.
It gets a flat 6.5” LCD with HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of up to 90 Hz. The selfie camera sits inside a punch hole and has an 8 MP sensor.
There are two cameras on the back, but only the 50 MP main one is actually useful. The secondary is called the “AI Camera” and we bet it contributes little to the actual photos and videos created by the O2.
Lava calls the O2 “the fastest phone in the segment” because the Unisoc chip combined with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage can reach more than 280,000 on AnTuTu, for example, much higher than competing 4G smartphones with the Helio G85. RAM is also expandable up to 16 GB.
The Lava O2 has a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 18W charging via USB-C. The phone also comes with Android 13, but at least it’s clean; The company says there are no ads, no bloatware and no unwanted apps
Lava O2 comes in three colors: Imperial Green, Majestic Purple and Royal Gold. The price is INR8,499 ($100), but at launch, it will be INR7,999 ($95). Sales will begin on March 27 at noon IST, and the phone will be available on the company’s online store and Amazon India.
The exact same phone is also available as the Lava UVa 3 Pro but with a slightly higher price tag, so we recommend customers to go for the O2 option.
