iPhone 17 Pro Max to have a 48 MP periscope telephoto camera
The iPhone 15 model is only a few months old and we already have plenty of iPhone 16 rumors, but wait – even today they’re getting one-upped as we talk about the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Yes, 17. Which is launching in the fall of 2025.
According to Jeff Pu, an analyst who covers companies in Apple’s supply chain, this model will have a 48MP telephoto camera, which will be optimized for use with the upcoming Vision Pro headset. He unfortunately doesn’t go into any details about that optimization. Starting with iOS 17.2, the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max can record spatial video with 3D depth for playback in Vision Pro, which is worth it.
The iPhone 16 Pro is already expected to come with a 48MP ultrawide camera, and the iPhone 15 Pro already has a 48MP main camera, so that means the iPhone 17 Pro/Max could be the first in Apple’s history with a triple 48. Rear MP camera.
Of course, it’s obvious that you should take all of this with a pinch of salt — after all, we’re almost two years ahead of schedule here. A lot can change in such a long time, even if Apple actually plans to do everything described here at this point. Things come and are bound to change all the time.
