Galaxy S24 users are facing Android Auto issues with some cars
As almost every Android Auto user can attest, the convenience feature is static at the best of times. Especially so if you use the wireless variety. However, some issues are more widespread than others, and many Galaxy S24 users are reporting problems connecting to their cars.
Apparently, the particular compatibility problem is affecting SEAT, Skoda and Volkswagen cars and is fairly widespread among owners of said cars. The issue is not trivial as the affected users are completely unable to connect to their cars via Android Auto.
In a rather encouraging development, however, essentially all parties involved have been informed and taken notice. These include Samsung, Google and car manufacturers. According to initial investigations, the problem lies in the software running in the car’s infotainment system.
This may be related to how Android handles hotspot IP addresses, but this has yet to be confirmed. However, the affected car manufacturers are apparently already working on a fix. Meanwhile, with support tickets mounting, Samsung UK has even created a dedicated support page for the issue. To quote that page.
The suggested troubleshooting steps are pretty simple and include checking your car for Android Auto compatibility and whether it is enabled in the settings. Checking your USB cable is also a step, and so is updating the software on both the phone and car side. The latter, unfortunately, may involve a trip to the dealer.
