Counterpoint: iPhone 15 series is selling worse than predecessors in China
After posting record pre-orders, Apple is facing slower-than-expected sales of its iPhone 15 series in China, according to new reports.
According to data collected by Counterpoint, iPhone 15 sales in China were 4.5% lower than the iPhone 14 generation in the first 17 days of their release. Analysts at Jefferies Group had predicted a big, double-digit drop.
Huawei has reportedly overtaken Apple with its newly launched Mate 60 series, and Jefferies analysts believe that Huawei may actually overtake Apple in 2024.
The launch of the iPhone 15 series was also plagued by overheating which could be attributed to the drop in demand in China.
Smartphone demand falls below 300 million units for the first time in 2022 as historically low demand. The iPhone 15 series is heading towards its lowest sales volume since 2018’s iPhone Xs generation.
