Apple says there won’t be a 27-inch iMac with Apple Silicon
Last week Apple unveiled the new 24-inch iMac with the M3 chip, and the company has been rumored for a while to release a 27-inch version with its latest silicon.
Today, however, the company unfortunately decided to issue a statement about the rumor denying it outright. According to Apple PR rep Starlayne Meza, there won’t be a 27″ iMac with M-series chips, full stop.
For those who find the 24″ iMac’s screen too small, Apple recommends pairing a 27″ Studio Display with a Mac Studio or Mac Mini, but of course that means you lose the all-in-one integration of an iMac.
Even the 24″ iMac has limitations, especially around the chipset, since it’s the base version, as well as the ports it’s using – it has a maximum of four USB-Cs and nothing else.
If you read between the lines, you’ll notice that Apple’s PR rep specifically mentions that a 27″ iMac isn’t happening. So, if you’re very optimistic, you can interpret that as saying that one with a larger display might be in the works. We’re hoping for that possibility. I’m on. Wouldn’t bet too much, but it works in theory.
