Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra and Z Fold5 may soon offer crash detection

It looks like Samsung has equipped its Galaxy S24 Ultra and Z Fold5 with a hidden crash detection feature that could be pushed through a software update soon.

Developer Mishal Rahman discovered the system code for a “car crash detection wakeup” sensor buried inside a OneUI 6.1 hidden system app called MoccaMobile.

Rahman explained that the feature relies on a composite sensor that uses data from various physical sensors such as the accelerometer and gyroscope and fuses the data through the Android Sensor Hub.

It remains to be seen how Samsung plans to roll out the feature and whether it will also be present on the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ models.
